EQ2 Icon Tinkerfest Quick Start Guide

Tinkerfest is here! This live event is scheduled to stay on the servers until August the 3rd so you have plenty of chances to take part.

Celebrations are at Gnomeland Security Headquarters in Steamfont.

tinkerYou can get there quickly via the Unstable Tinkered Portals scattered around Gnomish newbie villages (The Baubbleshire and Temple Street, Kelethin, Gorowyn, Neriak) and other Gnomish hangouts (Solusek Mining Company site in Solusek’s Eye, Drednever Crash Site in the Bonemire, the Dropzone in Moors of Ykesha).

Helping Out

Didyma, Tinkerfest Master of Celebrations at -575,170,995 has two quests for you.

You must speak Gnomish to get the quests. You can learn Gnomish by visiting any of the following merchants and purchasing a Gnomish Language Primer:

  • Wazzleburn, The Baubbleshire
  • Frizi Figglesnip, Temple Street
  • Scribe Hilja Saraste, Kelethin
  • Eredykil Zum’tok, Gorowyn
  • Martok K’Fauxx in Neriak, City of Hate

Tinkerfest Cheer

Didyma offers you the repeatable quest Tinkerfest Cheer, a repeatable quest to deliver Gnomish Spirits to anywhere in Norrath where the gnomes are celebrating. Travel to any three locations which have Unstable Tinkered Portals and refill the container of Gnomish Spirits at the tables near the portals. Return back to Didyma when you have completed this.

Friendly Competition

Didyma will recommend you speak to Jon Jeffas nearby to take part in a Friendly Competition at the Battleclock ring. You will be asked to find harvested items all around Steamfont. Most of the locations are obvious but you will have to steal the used grease from inside the buildings in Steamfont. There’s plenty, so the gnomes don’t seem to mind.

Once you have these items, you can purchase some coal and create a contestant for the Battleclock Ring and head back to see how he does. You do not need to be able to tinker to create this item.

Lying Around on the Ground

Shiny Tinkerfest Cogs, which are gathered from small cogs surrounded by a yellow glowing !, are used to purchase festival goodies and for crafting the special items. They are tradeable.

There is a temporary collection, Tinkered Parts, collected from purple glowing ?’s and requiring 8 pieces. The collection items are tradeable.

Both the cogs and the collectables are found in large quantities in The Baubbleshire near Qeynos, Temple Street near Freeport and in the Gnomeland Security Headquarters in Steamfont.

Decorations

Tinkerfest has introduced a number of new items for Gnomish collectors and cog lovers.

Myron, the Tinkerfest Merchant, is located at Gnomlands Security Headquarters in Steamfont at -580,171,996 and has a number of items for sale at a cost of two Shiny Tinkerfest Cogs.

Many of these items can also be crafted. Those items are found in the Tinkerfest Blueprints 1.0 recipe scroll that he has for sale in return for 10 Shiny Tinkerfest Cogs. This blueprint requires Tinkering at skill level 25 to scribe. The crafted versions of the recipes use a single Shiny Tinkerfest Cogs rather than the two required to buy from the merchant.

Myron also has Master Tinker’s Companion Blueprints 1.0 for sale. This requires Tinkering at skill level 400 to scribe and allows you to craft a one-of-a-kind pet.

You can see the new house items, both purchased and crafted, on EQ2 Traders Corner in the Denmum Diaries, Vol 3.: Tinkerfest 2009.

Not sure what to do with all these new decorative items? You can watch a video trailer for COGS at EQ2players

Fireworks

Tinkered Fireworks Projectomatics are distributed around Norrath and you can stop or start the fireworks at each one.

Myron, the Tinkerfest Merchant in Gnomeland Security Headquarters has Tinkerfest fireworks for sale in return for a Shiny Tinkerfest Cog.

You’ll also find Clockwork Heralds distributing free, temporary fireworks:

Unstable Flowery Tinkerfest Firework in Moors of Ykesha
Unstable Rainbow Tinkerfest Firework in Qeynos city zones
Unstable Foamy Tinkerfest Firework in Freeport city zones.

Simply ask a guard to point you to the nearest Herald. Once you are in range, the Herald will happily give you a stack of ten.

Hey is there a list someplace of what decorations are for sale but NOT in the recipe books?

  • Taymar wrote:

I think that everything for sale is also in a recipe book but I am not 100% certain. I’ll keep an eye out.

Out of the items that are for sale, mostly the active and non active cogs can not be crafted. There are also a couple of other items as well. I am at work right now, so I can’t give specifics.

Ah, right! Thanks, I’ll see if I can get a list together.

    Wow, thanks for the info.

Time to hit the WE Ranger for speed and fetch a few more hundred.

Looking for some quick opinion on one of the Tinkerfest rewards – what is preferable: should the Master Tinkerer’s Companion ONLY be available during Tinkerfest, not tradeable, and not commissionable, so that if a Master Tinkerer does not get the pet during one Tinkerfest, he or she will have to wait until next Tinkerfest to obtain it?
