EQ2 Icon Red Shinies in Maj’Dul

Game Update 53 has included a new red shiny collection for Master Tradeskillers. The red shinies are special collections, ?’s which glow red instead of gold. You must be wearing your Earring of the Solstice in order to see them.

We also have a full guide with all of the locations at Red Shiny Collections for Tradeskillers.

Before you start, make sure that your Particle Level of Detail is set to max (Particle Effects can be found under Options → Display) so that you can see the ?’s from as far away as possible.

The Tradeskill: Peacock Club Relics collection can be found scattered around the jewel of the desert, Maj’Dul. There are six pieces in the collection. The pieces are tradeable but lore. If you attempt to gather a ? and you already have the item on you, you can leave it to fade away which takes a few minutes. However, it is quicker to destroy the item in your inventory and gather the ? so that a new one will spawn as soon as possible.

There are no other ?’s in the zone so the Gnomish Divining Rod (tinker-made item which shows all harvests in the zone) is very useful for tracking them down.

Maj’Dul is a Tier 6 city zone which can can be reached via the carpet at the Sinking Sands dock. You’ll find a carpet to take you to Sinking Sands at the docks at Qeynos Harbor, East Freeport, Neriak, Gorowyn and Butcherblock as well as at the Wanderlust Camp in Darklight Woods and in Kelethin at the platform at the ramp.

Although the varying factions of the city are friendly to outsiders until you choose a side, the city has its share of bandits and thieves who will pounce on unsuspecting visitors that stray off the main walkways. However, if you keep clear of alleyways and avoid the shadows, you can explore most of the city in relative peace.

BEWARE: if an adventurer has set off the script for the finale of The Courts of Maj’Dul: Of Fate and Destiny quest line, the city will be filled with Rujarkian Orcs who will kill indiscriminately. In this case, it is better to avoid Maj’Dul completely and return after the towers have returned to the city factions.

There are multiple shiny spawns in the city, with at least one on the east side (tending to be around the Court of Truth or sometimes near the entrance on the Skygazer Plateau) and one or two on the west side.

For low-level adventurers, the west side area is safer to explore. From the entrance, if you turn right as you cross the bridge to the Sultan’s palace and keep to the outer edge (avoiding the gamblers leaning up against the wall of the building), you will find the route to the Midday Market perfectly safe. Use the Gnomish Divining Rod to see if there are any here and then carry on to the Champion’s Court where there is almost always one up. Using this route, you will avoid all thieves and bandits – but beware the scorpions behind the Champions Court. If you have a supply of rods it should not take you very long to complete the collection by checking these two areas every five minutes.

The reward is a house item which could be useful in a ticklish situation.
