Star Wars the Old Republic Star Wars: The Old Republic Roundup

The new Star Wars MMO on the block, Star Wars: The Old Republic, certainly looks to be a breath of fresh air into the franchise after the fall of Star Wars Galaxies. The MMO seems to be a ways from release yet, but let’s take a look at what has already been announced:

Factions and Classes
There have been confirmed to be two sides, the Republic and the Sith Empire. Each side will have unique classes, available only to that faction, with 4 to a side. Each of these classes will also feature a branching path along their progression, allowing characters to change the fundamental way a class operates. More info is available here and here.

MMORPG Info Logo Immature, Misogynistic Male-Gamers, UNITE

Battlefield 3 Launch Party is a premier powergaming LAN event. Better than all the rest, they tell us, with a platinum package that includes EVERYTHING for just $49.

Everything, that is, as long as you have a Y chromosome.

I would like to add an inciteful commentary to this but honestly, the only words I can come up with are “What the fuck?” [More...]

MMORPG Info Logo ARMA 2: Free

Bohemia Interactive, the developers of Armed Assault 2 (AKA ARMA 2), recently released ARMA 2 for free in a limited form. This was to celebrate the announcement of their sequel , ARMA 3, at E3. The download link can be found at Arma 2: Free.

You have to endure reduced features: you can’t able to play the single-player campaign or use the higher graphics settings. Despite this, it’s still one of the best tactical shooters for free. ARMA 2 is one of the most comprehensive and popular realistic shooters, featuring multiplayer. On top of it all, there is the Armory, where you can try out weapons, vehicles and wildlife in a series of missions.

There’s also an Editor, which allows you to set up your own missions to test. From the very simple situation of two soldiers facing off, to creating whole missions with waypoints and triggers. The Mission Editor is both simple to use, with hidden depths for those who wish to use them.

The multi-player offers a wide variety of servers. These run different game-modes, from the widely-acclaimed mod Domination, which allows players to run missions against AI units. There is also the odder CLife mod, which allows players to play as civilians and cops. Civilians try to make as much money as possible, and cops trying to stop any illegal proceedings.

MMORPG Info Logo Global Agenda: Class Summaries

There might only be four classes in the recently re-released Free2Play MMO Global Agenda, but each one of those classes has a huge ability for variety as a result of the skill trees. This can completely change how a class is played. In this article, I will explore a few of the different branches.

A point worth making is that you can mix and match from these trees as much as you like with no actual need for you to invest one way or another, other than the requirement of some skills to have a minimum amount of points in a specific tree. [More...]

MMORPG Info Logo Steam goes Free2Play

For a long time, the only free items you could get on Steam were demos and videos. Totally free games were generally a non-entity on the distribution platform. Recently however Steam launched six Free2Play games on the service, including its own wildly popular Team Fortress 2, among others. This could herald a new era for Steam, where MMOs and other free games find their own spot among what some call the best digital distribution platform on the PC. Here’s a quick summary of what each of these games is.
